Trail begins between sage-covered hill and Cabin Creek. Lupine blooms can be seen on hillside when in season. At 1.8 miles the trail opens on a hillside. This is a good place to turn around for those with small children. Last .8 of a mile is strenuous, but arrives on lake at 8,811 feet. Worth extra .3 mile to second lake. First lake has sheer rock wall rising up from lake. Second lake has partial cirque.

Plenty along Cabin Creek and Cabin Creek Lakes.

No mechanised travel is allowed within the wilderness area. Hiking and horseback riding are allowed, mountain biking and motorcycle riding are forbidden.
