Short hike to high alpine lake surrounded on two sides by snow covered peaks. The Phyllis Lake trail is a very short easy hike to a fantastic high elevation lake, if you have a high clearance vehicle that will handle the road beyond the Fourth of July trailhead. The lake is only one half mile from the Phyllis Lake trailhead, but if you don't want to subject your vehicle to the rough road, it is still a nice hike along the road. The trail was rebuilt recently to accommodate wheel chairs and is wide and gentle with a nice bridge across the only stream crossing. Mountain goats are frequently sighted and wildflowers abound.
